FUNCTION OF WORK:
To perform operational support tasks in a warehouse environment.

LEVEL OF WORK:
Advanced

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
General from a Warehouse Supervisor. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May provide guidance to lower-level warehouse personnel.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Warehouse Technician 2 by the presence of advanced-level warehouse duties.

Differs from Warehouse Supervisor by the absence of direct supervisory responsibilities.

At this level, incumbents perform advanced operational support tasks under general supervision. Duties may include a combination of inventory handling, clerical, custodial, equipment operation, and basic maintenance tasks in a warehouse environment with a focus on inventory accountability and/or serving as a lead worker.

Keeps a running account of items received, stored, and issued. Reviews inventory system entries for compliance with agency policy and procedures.

Writes routine reports as required by agency policy. May review reports of other warehouse personnel for accuracy.

Inspects incoming stock or equipment and compares to specifications on invoice, requisition, or purchase order.

Tags, marks, labels, stores, and issues stock as appropriate.

Verifies shipping and receiving reports with goods received to determine accuracy and takes action to resolve discrepancies to include refusal of delivery.

Operates and performs user maintenance on material handling equipment.

Inventories non-chargeable items at periodic intervals.

Assists with the training of new employees by serving as lead worker.

Meets with vendors on the delivery and receipt of goods.

Instructs warehouse personnel in the proper movement of stock and equipment; ensures safety procedures are followed.

Receives and unloads stock or equipment requiring specialized handling procedures such as pharmaceuticals, perishable foodstuffs, chemicals or combustibles.

Maintains inventory to ensure that adequate supplies are available; initiates and monitors appropriate requisitions when needed.

Identifies, reports, and suggests solutions to maintain economic stock levels.

Operates complex warehouse equipment, such as forklifts with lifting capacity over 10,000 lbs. or lift height over 12 feet.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of warehouse experience, or experience in receiving, storing, or distributing supplies or equipment.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
