FUNCTION OF WORK:To supervise direct patient care and support activities for multiple units under the oversight of licensed nursing staff.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:General from a Registered Nurse or other higher-level personnel.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Direct over Nursing Supervisor 1 and/or lower-level healthcare staff. Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Nursing Assistant 2 by the presence of direct supervisory responsibility for multiple units.

Supervises and manages the nursing care provided across multiple units in a healthcare facility during an assigned shift.
Serves as the lead nursing assistant supervisor, providing guidance and support to Nursing Supervisor 1 positions and other subordinate staff.
Prepares, reviews, and evaluates staffing schedules, resident assignments, and duty rotations, making adjustments as necessary to ensure proper coverage.
Conducts performance evaluations, interviews prospective employees, verifies eligibility, and checks references.
Monitors staff compliance with facility policies and procedures, ensuring residents receive adequate care in a safe and sanitary environment.
Conducts staff meetings, coordinates training programs, and ensures continuing education requirements are met for Certified Nursing Assistants.
Oversees quality assurance (QA) activities in the nursing department, ensuring timely completion of QA monitors and implementation of corrective actions as needed.
Reports QA findings to the facilitiy's administrator and assists in the development of performance improvement plans.
Ensures adequate supplies and equipment are available for the provision of resident care.
Assists in the development and implementation of therapeutic programs for residents, working closely with professional nursing staff.
Performs duties of lower-level Nursing Supervisors or Nursing Assistants as necessary.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of experience in patient care; OR
Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate or graduation from an Emergency Medical Technician Program plus two years of experience in patient care; OR
Completion of an accredited registered or practical nursing program plus one year of experience in patient care.
NOTE:
Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.
