FUNCTION OF WORK:
To serve as the primary assistant to the administrator of a residential facility supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

LEVEL OF WORK:
Administrator

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Broad direction from an IDD Administrator 1. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct over administrator-level personnel. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from IDD Program Directors by the presence of serving as the primary assistant to an IDD Administrator and having functional authority over all facility operations.

Differs from IDD Associate Administrator 2 by the absence of serving as the primary assistant to an IDD Administrator 2.

Serves as the primary assistant to an IDD Administrator 1.

Assumes full responsibility for all activities of the facility during the absence of the administrator.

Participates in strategic planning activities.

Reviews and evaluates facility operations and recommends appropriate action to the IDD Administrator 1.

Establishes regulations and policies.

Prepares annual reports pertaining to facility operations.

Reviews studies prepared by program directors and recommends action to the administrator.

Coordinates the implementation of new programs and procedures.

Prepares the facility budget and seeks grant funding.

Coordinates programs and services with other state and local agencies and programs.

Represents the agency at various meetings and professional organizations.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Seven years of experience in health services or developmentally disabled services, hospital administration, social services, psychology or special education; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in health services or developmentally disabled services, hospital administration, social services, psychology or special education; OR

A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in health services or developmentally disabled services, hospital administration, social services, psychology or special education; OR

An advanced degree in health administration, hospital administration, special education, psychology, or social work plus three years of experience in health services or developmentally disabled services, hospital administration, social services, psychology or special education.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
