To assist in various natural resource management, research, and wildlife/fisheries activities.

General from a higher-level Wildlife and Fisheries Technician, Biologist, or higher-level Wildlife and Fisheries official.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.

LOCATION OF WORK:
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Differs from Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A by the presence of experienced level wildlife and/or fisheries duties.

Differs from Wildlife and Fisheries Technician C by the absence of leadworker or specialized, technical duties of a complex nature.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Collects data to evaluate management or research activities, monitor fish and wildlife populations, and perform specific research projects, including use, maintenance and calibration of scientific and technical equipment.

Participates in habitat enhancement and management.

Meets regularly with other project personnel and supervisors to discuss ongoing projects.

Maintains and repairs buildings, public ramps, grounds, roads, vehicles, boundary markers, equipment, facilities, lake management structures and other Department property.

Operates outboard motors, air boats, mud boats, electro fishing gear, high-pressure spray pumps, tractors, vehicles, and other Department equipment.

Maintains public contact with schools and civic and youth groups by hosting their visits to Department properties.

Performs any duties necessary for the agency to accomplish its mission.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience in wildlife or fisheries management, research or conservation; forestry; land management; agriculture; commercial fishery; environmental science; or operation of heavy mobile equipment; OR

Thirty semester hours with six hours in a biological, marine or environmental science, wildlife or fisheries management or research, agriculture, commercial fishery or forestry.
