FUNCTION OF WORK:
To use enterprise information technology equipment and/or systems to support statewide print, mail, computer console or batch production functions.

LEVEL OF WORK:
Entry

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct from a higher-level IT Statewide professional with assigned supervisory responsibilities. May also receive supervision on a project basis from other IT Statewide professionals. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from other IT Statewide jobs by the presence of using enterprise information technology equipment and/or systems to support statewide print, mail, computer console or batch production functions.

Differs from IT Statewide Operator 2 by the absence of independence in performing basic tasks in support of statewide print, mail, computer console or batch production functions.

Positions in this job series are assigned to a statewide information technology function such as printing, mail, console operations or batch production. At this level, incumbents learn to use complex information technology equipment and/or systems to accomplish large-scale production services as relevant to the assigned functional area.

Learns to operate enterprise print, mail and/or finishing equipment under close supervision.

Stocks supplies and reports inventory usage.

May perform courier services for statewide mail or print functions by operating state vehicles in accordance with agency safety guidelines.

Follow instructions for electronic job tracking for print or mail functions, such as how to use networked handheld and automated information technology equipment.

Learns to perform basic equipment maintenance.

Learns the basics of monitoring console mainframe operations and/or production batch processing under close supervision.

Learns to enter system commands, update batch production schedules, and run test batch processing at the request of higher-level IT professionals.

Contact the appropriate higher-level personnel when system errors occur; may perform remediation with guidance.

Assists with preparing documentation for shift reports.

Follow instructions to rotate tape backup media.

Learns to use systems to accomplish batch job scheduling.

Learns to update parameters, dates, and file names in JCL for batch production runs.

Reviews previous night batch production runs and contacts developers about failures of non on-call jobs.
