FUNCTION OF WORK:To serve as a technical lead for a statewide information technology infrastructure system.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Direct from a higher-level IT Statewide professional with assigned supervisory responsibilities. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:May provide direct or functional supervision over lower-level IT Statewide personnel. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from IT Statewide Associate Engineer 4 by the presence of serving as a technical lead performing moderately complex tasks in support of a statewide information technology infrastructure system.
Differs from IT Statewide Engineer 2 by the absence of serving as a technical lead performing complex tasks in support of a statewide information technology infrastructure system.

Serves as a technical lead for a statewide information technology infrastructure system by performing moderately complex tasks such as database tuning and management, forecasting capacity, planning expansions, designing layer 2 components for site/backbone/data centers, leading site conversion projects, etc.
Perform advanced system/equipment maintenance upgrades such as new major versions and data migrations.
Provides Tier 3 help desk support; may also provide Tier 2 help desk support when needed and/or oversee the work of lower-level IT personnel engaged in infrastructure support activities.
Perform advanced troubleshooting, such as resolving interoperability issues between systems. May also resolve intermediate issues when needed.
Provides moderately complex system configurations.
Records and generates usage reports for customer invoicing.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
An associate's degree in information technology plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus two years of experience in information technology or administrative services; OR
A master's degree plus two years of experience in information technology or administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
