FUNCTION OF WORK:To assist in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and administration of components within a statewide information technology infrastructure system.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Direct from a higher-level IT Statewide professional with assigned supervisory responsibilities. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from other IT Statewide jobs by the presence of responsibility for statewide information technology infrastructure system components. Information technology infrastructure includes systems such as network, storage, database, server, mainframe, hardware, etc., as well as the interoperability of all technology components within them.
Differs from IT Statewide Associate Engineer 2 by the absence of independence in performing basic tasks in support of information technology infrastructure components.

Performs, with oversight, basic information technology infrastructure maintenance tasks such as security patching and standard updates.
Assists in providing basic help desk support tasks pertaining to data center operations.
Assists in provisioning basic services per approved requests.
Assists in basic installations and configurations of equipment and supporting software.
May assist in after hours emergency maintenance.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in information technology; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
An associate's degree in information technology; OR
A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any area. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any area.

A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.
