Learns to assist in the analysis of information technology initiatives, business processes, and/or systems.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct from a higher-level IT Statewide professional with assigned supervisory responsibilities. May also receive supervision on a project basis from other IT Statewide professionals. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from IT Statewide Associate Analyst 2 by the absence of independence in performing basic tasks in support of information technology initiatives, business processes, and/or systems.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Receives on-the-job training regarding statewide information technology. Learns specific system landscape and the purpose for each system, as it relates to user and system change support. At this level, training may be focused to a specific element of the system such as UI/UX, a specific module, etc.

Performs basic tasks under close supervision such as testing and preparing related documentation in support of system modifications, updating related user help and training course materials, creating and editing basic wireframes, etc.

Introduced to security requirements that control user access for the purpose of testing system changes.

Observes higher level IT professionals process system and/or interface changes from the initial request through implementation.

Learns to provide communication with users to 'walk' them through basic system processes or to assist in gathering more specific details for pending basic Help Desk problems.

Receives on-the-job training and instruction in project and portfolio management methodology for project management, documentation, quality assurance, scope assessment, and risk assessment with guidance by more experienced personnel.

Receives on-the-job training and instruction in user requirements, system specifications, and user support materials.

Receives on-the-job training and instruction about the project and portfolio management document library and standards, including documents for project initiation, requirements definition, project plans, training guides, testing plans, scope definition, communication, dashboards, and risk management.

Receives on-the-job training and instruction in documenting basic business processes and requirements.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in information technology; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

An associate's degree in information technology; OR

A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.
