FUNCTION OF WORK:To serve as a technical specialist for investigations applicable to administrative rules, regulations, policies, licensure, statutes, and/or ethical standards.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:General from a Compliance Investigator Manager. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:May provide guidance to lower-level personnel.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from law enforcement investigators by the emphasis on administrative rather than criminal investigations.
Differs from Compliance Investigator 3 by the presence of serving as a technical specialist for compliance investigation activities.
Differs from Compliance Investigator Supervisor by the absence of direct supervisory responsibilities.

Conducts highly complex and/or high profile investigations into alleged or suspected misconduct relating to administrative regulations, policies, licensure, statutes, or ethical standards.
Conducts confidential internal investigations into alleged or suspected misconduct by agency employees, contracted personnel, etc.
Serves a technical specialist on the applicable administrative rules, regulations, policies, licensure, statutes, and/or ethical standards for the agency by making recommendations for changes to agency administrators in order to improve compliance.
Conducts research and analysis by considering historical precedents, current best practices, and future changes in the external environment as applicable to the administrative rules, regulations, policies, licensure, statutes, and/or ethical standards for the agency.
Serve as a lead investigator on the most complex investigations. Coordinates with law enforcement on criminal matters when necessary.
Serves as a leadworker for lower-level personnel by providing formal training, reviewing work, etc.
Prepares summary reports of investigative activities for the work unit.
Provides quality assurance for investigation records.
Oversees and/or gives presentations and training to agency personnel and/or the public.
Participates in various hearings to provide testimony for assigned cases.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Six years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR
A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR
An advanced degree plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
