FUNCTION OF WORK:
To operate and pilot uninspected marine vessels, as defined by United States Coast Guard regulations.

LEVEL OF WORK:
Experienced

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct from a Marine Dredge Captain or comparable supervisor. Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by DSCS.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May exercise functional supervision as required.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Marine Operator 1 by the presence of independent responsibility for piloting an uninspected marine vessel.

Differs from Marine Operator 3 by the absence of advanced level responsibilities.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.

Complete master log of all operations and submission of required reports. Inspects equipment, machines, rigging, and gear aboard vessels. Tows disabled ferry vessels, barges, mooring pontoon and other floating equipment. Participate in all emergency fire and collision drills. Operate vessel equipment such as marine radio, state radio, radar, and related safety equipment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience in the operation and piloting of marine vessels plus possession of the required level of U.S. Coast Guard license for the vessel and duties assigned.
