FUNCTION OF WORK:To provide direct-line supervision of subordinate licensed, master's degree-level social services staff, and/or other professional social services staff for a service delivery program.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Broad from a higher-level manager or administrator.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Direct-line over subordinate licensed, master's degree-level social services staff and/or other professional social services staff.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from lower-level professional counselors by the presence of supervisory responsibilities over licensed, master's degree-level social services staff, and/or other professional social services staff.
Differs from Social Service Counselor 5-B by the presence of licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Provides professional clinical supervision through the review of cases to assist and guide subordinate social service staff in the development of skills in working with families, client groups, offenders, and especially with atypical and complex patients.
Determines work assignments, coordinates work flow and duty assignments, and evaluates work performance of subordinate social service staff.
Plans, organizes, and implements various social services programs. Coordinates the activities of the programs with other units and agencies.
Develops goals, program plans, and policies/procedures. Aids in determining staffing and resource needs for a social services unit.
Provides or arranges for training and development activities for subordinates.
May provide LPC supervision to candidates for professional counselor certification.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) plus three years of licensed counseling experience.
