FUNCTION OF WORK:To oversee and direct activities of Investigative Specialists and Investigative Specialist Supervisors who serve in a support role to local, state and federal criminal investigations by
providing accurate, concise and complete analysis of diversified criminal intelligence data which involves evaluating and classifying data for retrieval purposes.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:General from a State Police Sergeant or other supervisory personnel.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Direct over Investigative Specialist Supervisors.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Investigative Specialist Supervisor by the presence of management responsibility over Investigative Specialist Supervisors and by having second line supervision over
Investigative Specialists 1, 2 and 3.

Must maintain comprehensive knowledge of organizational mission, goals, objectives, and internal procedures, practices and processes.
Serves as liaison with other law enforcement and intelligence agencies representatives and participates in schools, conferences, seminars and meetings designed to impart greater
knowledge of the gaming regulatory and criminal intelligence process.
Monitors efficiency and product quality, provides guidance, and sets goals for subordinates. Manages time and attendance and conducts staff meetings. Reviews performance
and prepares annual personnel evaluations. Participates in the hiring process of qualified candidates.
GAMING ENFORCEMENT FUNCTIONS:
Oversees operations of all field offices and programs dealing with licensing of the Gaming Division.
Establishes productivity reporting criteria and procedures for each field office and monitors Investigative Specialists' performance in meeting goals.
Assists in the development and design of application forms used by the Division.
Gaming Audit or Corporate Security Functions:
Oversees the review and compliance of internal controls.
Approves detailed formal and site inspections reports on compliance issues/deficiencies submitted by Investigative Specialist Supervisors.
Assigns various research study projects which may be conducive to the enhancement of existing division guidelines.
INVESTIGATIVE SUPPORT FUNCTION:
Represents the agency at state and national focus group meetings to stay abreast of the latest and most crucial trends involving homeland security.
Analyzes complex investigation and intelligence reports, and conducts special intelligence analysis projects as assigned by the Analytical Unit Supervisor or
upper level Command Staff.
Manages intelligence analysis and dissemination of criminal information using the intelligence cycle process and is a subject expert in the management of intelligence concerning
various threat groups and critical infrastructure.
Prepares and conducts blocks of training for cadet classes, subordinates, and others as needed.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Seven years of experience in analyzing intelligence or criminal investigative reports, gaming regulation, or conducting criminal investigations as a commissioned law enforcement officer; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in analyzing intelligence or criminal investigative reports, gaming regulation, or conducting criminal investigations as a commissioned law enforcement officer; OR
A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in analyzing intelligence or criminal investigative reports, gaming regulation, or conducting criminal investigations as a commissioned law enforcement officer; OR
A bachelor's degree plus graduation from a military intelligence school for commissioned officers, warrant officers, or senior (E-7, E-8, E-9) noncommissioned officers of the US Armed Forces.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws are granted.
All persons appointed to this job will be required by the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Louisiana Police Terminal Operator Certification Program Guidelines to meet the terminal operator certification/re-certification requirements.
INVESTIGATIVE SUPPORT SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must be able to obtain Federal Government security clearances for access to classified information.
