FUNCTION OF WORK:To operate either digital or offset multi-color printing presses (not duplicators with color heads) producing four color process printing, or to set up and operate large finishing and binding equipment such as an eight-pocket saddle gatherer, perfect binder, digital cutter, and large format folders.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Broad from Printing Supervisor, Printing Assistant Superintendent, Printing Superintendent, or other Administrator.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Printing Specialist 2 by the more complex type of equipment operated, responsibility for training, technical problem resolution, and assisting in the supervision of the respective unit.
Differs from Printing Supervisor by absence of supervisory responsibility.

Trains and resolves technical problems for Printing Apprentices and Printing Operators in their respective printing trades.
Assists supervisor in overseeing unit personnel, divides work assignments, etc.
Prepares and operates printing process cameras and plate making equipment, performs image assembly and makes plates and proofs for offset presses.
Sets up for use and operates large finishing and binding equipment which converts printed material into finished product.
Coordinate preventive maintenance program with administrative personnel.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in printing operations.
