FUNCTION OF WORK:
To direct the operations of a regional office or headquarters division.

LEVEL OF WORK:
Administrator

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Broad from unclassified Assistant Secretary or higher-level personnel.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct over all personnel in assigned division or regional office.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Revenue Tax Assistant Director by the presence of full administrative responsibility for the operations of a headquarters division or regional office.

Plans and coordinates activities of the division or regional office, including the formulation of current and long-range plans, policies, projects, and the annual budget; ensures the achievement of strategic and programmatic goals.

Directs internal audits to be performed, reviews results, and prepares reports of findings for executive management.

Represents the Department at legislative committee hearings, Board of Tax Appeals, and courts.

Interprets legislation for applicability to the division and department; adjusts policies and methods for compliance with such.

Conducts educational seminars and training sessions regarding law changes and departmental policies and regulations.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the supervisory level or above:

Eight years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus five years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR

A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR

An advanced degree or Juris Doctorate plus four years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or a current Louisiana license to practice law plus three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
