FUNCTION OF WORK:To manage the operation and maintenance of a bulk terminal facility.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Direct from the Port Operations Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Direct over Bulk Terminal Supervisors.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Bulk Terminal Supervisor by the presence of responsibility of managing the operations and maintenance duty requirements for a bulk cargo facility.
Differs from Port Operations Director by the absence of responsibility for directing the operations of all departments port operations.

Manages, supervises and directs the daily activities, operations, and maintenance processes of loading and unloading bulk cargos and the maintenance of all equipment, machinery, structures, docks and wharves for the bulk terminal.
Coordinates with customers, officials, truck drivers, longshoremen, ship agents, and coordinates employees in scheduled shipments for the terminal.
Operates scales.
Provides information to prospective users concerning transportation facility, freight rates, port tariffs, customs regulations, facility capabilities and other factors pertaining to bulk commodity and handling.
Meets with shippers, shipping agencies, transportation agencies, governmental agencies, stevedores, forwarders and others concerned with the movement of cargo through the facility.
Assist in the preparation of the budget for the Bulk Terminal Facility.
May assist lower level workers in the daily operation or maintenance of the facility.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years of experience in bulk cargo handling or in grain handling at a port or terminal facility; OR
Five years of experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy mobile equipment, industrial machinery, construction or maintenance equipment, or transportation or materials handling equipment.
