FUNCTION OF WORK:Supervises a unit of professional social services staff who provide protective services to adults with disabilities.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Broad review from a higher-level professional or administrator.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Direct over Adult Protection Specialists. May supervise other professional, paraprofessional or clerical employees.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Adult Protection Specialist 3 by the presence of direct supervisory responsibilities.

Provides direct supervision of Adult Protection Specialists through supervisory conferences, case staffing, unit conferences, multi-disciplinary team staffing, on-the-job training case consultation, review of completed work assignments, etc.
Orients new staff regarding civil service, agency, local office, and unit policies and procedures, ensures that staff complete training requirements.
Determines work assignments, coordinates work flow and duty assignments of employees; monitors workers' productivity and activity in an effort to assure minimal compliance with agency policies and procedures.
Assesses ongoing staff training needs; plans and presents staff development programs to meet ongoing training needs. Reviews, evaluates, and counsels with employees regarding work performance. May recommend the implementation of disciplinary action of an employee.
Conducts education presentations or in-service trainings for community groups, agencies, providers, etc. on adult abuse, neglect, exploitation, and extortion on the role of Adult Protective Services.
May organize and manage the regional coordinating council.
Participates in statewide staff meetings.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QULAIFICATIONS:
Six years of social services experience; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus three years of social services experience; OR
A bachelor's degree plus three years of social services experience; OR
A master's degree in social work, a social science, education, counseling or vocational rehabilitation plus two years of social services experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
