FUNCTION OF WORK:
To develop and implement technology programs of the Louisiana Department of Education, Louisiana Center for Educational Technology, and the Louisiana State Plan for Educational Technology.

LEVEL OF WORK:
Manager

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Administrative direction from an Educational Technology Senior Consultant or an unclassified division director.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May supervise Educational Technology Specialist(s).

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Educational Technology Senior Consultant by the absence of duties as a deputy to cabinet-level executive.

Differs from other education jobs by acting on behalf of an Educational Technology Senior Consultant and by assignment to statewide instructional technology programs.

Differs from Educational Technology Specialist by breadth and depth of duties for instructional technology programs and responsibilities that include programmatic research, development and evaluation of programs.

Makes recommendations to the Educational Technology Senior Consultant and to the Director of Educational Technology regarding mandated and discretionary programs.

Plans and implements in-service meetings and conferences with department administrators to discuss technical and organizational matters related to statewide educational technology projects and programs.

Makes technical and instructional presentations at universities and school systems throughout the state to promote the activities of the Departments Center of Educational Technology.

Designs and implements professional development and technical infrastructure projects that support classroom reform and the state technology goals.

Assists in the design, implementation and evaluation of the Classroom-Based Technology Improvement Grants and the Technology Literacy Challenge Grants.

Collaborates with other Department Units to advise and assist with the technology components of professional development, leadership, curriculum, and accountability initiatives.

Researches and prepares reports on key aspects of the changing field of educational technology.

Meets with state and local officials, legislators, professional organizations, local superintendents, the Board of Regents, the BESE, groups of parents, and special interest groups.

Supports Senior Educational Technology Consultant in the design and coordination of federal and state technology educational program activities.

Prepares special instructional and technical reports relating to the Louisiana Center for Educational Technology and the Department of Education.

Develops and recommends to the division director programmatic policy directives and procedural guidelines to local educational authorities.

In the absence of the Senior Educational Technology Consultant, represents the division director on interoffice technology instructional matters.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree plus six years of experience in education, administrative services, web development, or graphic design; OR

A master's degree plus four years of experience in education, administrative services, web development, or graphic design; OR

A doctorate in education plus two years of experience in education, administrative services, web development, or graphic design.
