PERFORMS ALL DUTIES IN AN ENTRY/TRAINEE CAPACITY
Conducts hearings as defined by federal law or regulation.
Prepares for hearings by reading cases, appeals, rulings, documents, files, and investigation reports.
Arranges for the appearance of witnesses, issuing subpoenas when necessary.
Examines legal and administrative documents, rules on admissibility of evidence, submits objections and exceptions, resolves procedural questions, and grants or denies postponements and continuances.
Reviews testimony in detail and reduces testimony to evidence, finds the facts, applies facts to the law, interprets the law, and draws conclusions.
Drafts written decisions setting forth facts and reasons for the decision, the applicable law, and the decision reached.
Conducts continuous study of current decisions, rulings, and amendments.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in a field related to the law being adjudicated; OR
A Juris Doctorate; OR
A license to practice law in the state of Louisiana.
