FUNCTION OF WORK:To collect, compile, and analyze biological and environmental data.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:General from a Biologist Manager or Biologist Supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:May exercise functional over lower-level staff and/or direct over nonprofessional personnel.
LOCATION OF WORK:Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Biologists 1 and 3 by the degree of independence and initiative in support of major programs.

Collects complex and specialized biological and environmental data for projects such as game, fur, marine, or inland fisheries management or environmental monitoring.
Aids in implementing and providing technical advice for management and monitoring programs.
Directs other Biologists and para-professional staff in collecting scientific and technical data for specific research or management projects.
Independently carries out limited research projects. Participates as a team member in special investigations.
Compiles, analyzes, and interprets data using descriptive and inferential statistical methods and writes reports of results for supervisory review.
Prepares wildlife and fisheries management plans for landowners.
Presents demonstrations to various groups and explains departmental rules and procedures.
Maintains frequent contact with other state and federal employees for field projects.
Communicates department's biological programs to individuals and groups through outreach and promotion in educational settings.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources plus one year of experience in wildlife or fisheries, forestry, or environmental science; OR
A master’s or doctorate degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources.
