FUNCTION OF WORK:To provide the full range of paraprofessional accounting duties while directly supervising a unit of paraprofessional fiscal positions in the performance of accounting duties.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Generally from a higher level fiscal or administrative position.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Generally over at least two paraprofessional accounting positions.
LOCATION OF WORK:May be used by all state agencies.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Accounting Specialists by presence of supervisory duties over paraprofessional accounting positions.
Differs from Accountant Supervisor 1 by lack of professional accounting duties.

Maintains accounting ledgers and other documents.
Approves transaction documents or batch documents.
Trains employees in the performance of job duties, assigns and reviews work of subordinates, ensures accuracy of unit/output, and measures and reports productivity of unit.
Responsible for posting and journalizing ledgers and preparing financial accounts reports.
Communicates with public and private accountants; state, federal, and independent auditors; banks; brokerage firms; and program or management personnel for the purpose of providing information and technical assistance needed to resolve problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or numerical computation.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
An Associate Degree in Accounting, Accounting Technology, or Business from an accredited college or university will substitute for two years of the required experience.
Training in a vocational-technical school or military school in Accounting, Accounting Technology, or Business will substitute for up to one year of required experience on the basis of one month of training for one month of experience.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
