FUNCTION OF WORK:
To assist in implementing and monitoring a variety of aspects of general and agency specific civil rights compliance programs for
a major state agency. Work involves learning principles, procedures and other standard job requirements.

Entry

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Close from a Compliance Programs Director or other appropriate agency administrator.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Compliance Programs Specialist 2 in that this is a training level position requiring close supervision.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.

All duties are performed in a training capacity under close supervision.

Gathers data and prepares statistical reports required to produce the agency affirmative action plan.

Assists in monitoring agency personnel transactions including, but not limited to, hires, promotions, reclassifications, layoffs, transfer, etc. to ensure that equal employment practices are being followed.

Assists in the investigation of grievances and complaints. Prepares reports of findings.

Participates in on-site reviews conducted by the agency and other state and federal entities.

Provides basic procedural information to individuals who feel as though they have been discriminated against in accordance with federal law and agency policies.

Assists with developing and conducting affirmative action and equal employment opportunity training programs, work shops and seminars.

Learns current laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to affirmative action and civil rights compliance.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in monitoring compliance with federal nondiscrimination laws and regulations; or in human resources or employment law; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
