Serves as a general clinical and/or production dietitian in a hospital caring for patients with medically acute and chronic nutritional problems.
Calculates, writes, adapts, and modifies diets or menus to meet individual needs.
Counsels and teaches patients and their families the practical and technical aspect of the diet as it relates to the particular patient's health problem.
Implements nutritional assessment care plan for patients with severe nutritional problems.
Supervises subordinates in the production of meals and services, sanitation, and storage.
Implements personnel policies and procedures as established by the department and institution.
Plans, develops, and directs an ongoing in-service and on the job training program.
Plans and implements a quality assurance program related to the nutritional care of patients.
Plans and assists the director of the department in forecasting, finalizing and implementing special projects, layout designs, and determining equipment requirement and specifications.
Serves as the nutritional authority on health care teams.
Provides orientation for new nutritionists and training for graduate nutrition students, dietetic interns, and other health professionals.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a permanent Louisiana dietitian/nutritionist license.
