FUNCTION OF WORK:
To supervise the OSHA Consultation Safety and Health Section and loss control programs and assist the OSHA Consultation Manager with the organization and administration of the Workers' Compensation Cost Containment Act.

General from the OSHA Consultation Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct over OSHA Occupational Safety Consultant Trainees, OSHA Occupational Safety Consultants, OSHA Industrial Health/Hygiene Consultant Trainees and OSHA Industrial Health/Hygiene Consultants.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from OSHA Consultation Manager by lack of total responsibility for managing and administering the OSHA Consultation and Cost Containment Programs.

Differs from OSHA Occupational Safety Consultant and OSHA Industrial Health/Hygiene Consultant by supervisory responsibility.

Supervises OSHA Occupational Safety Consultants and OSHA Industrial Health/Hygiene Consultants in the provision of the statewide OSHA safety consultation services and cost containment program.

Reviews written confirmation from employers on correction of serious hazards.

Confers with consultants, trainees and employers in order to schedule or reschedule consultation visits on complex or priority cases.

Assists in coordinating activities within and outside the agency; provides safety information and technical advice to other divisions within the agency.

Assists OSHA Consultation Manger in preparing the annual program budget.

Performs statewide safety and health inspections at private facilities.

Coordinates data involved with the implementation of the Workers' Compensation Cost Containment Act LSA R.S. 23:1175 ET SEG as amended by Act 1192, No. 794 offered by the Department of Labor to private employers in the State under the Federal Occupational Safety and Health regulations.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Six years of experience in industrial or occupational health or safety, risk management, or safety inspection, monitoring, or consultation; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus three years of experience in industrial or occupational health or safety, risk management, or safety inspection, monitoring, or consultation; OR

A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in industrial or occupational health or safety, risk management, or safety inspection, monitoring, or consultation; OR

An advanced degree plus two years of experience in industrial or occupational health or safety, risk management, or safety inspection, monitoring, or consultation.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
