To manage levee maintenance field operations.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Broad from a Levee Maintenance Director. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct over a staff of Levee Foremen. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Levee Foreman C by the presence of managerial responsibility for levee maintenance field operations.

Differs from Levee Maintenance Director by the absence of managerial responsibility for all levee maintenance operations of a levee district.

At this level, managerial responsibility is generally focused to maintenance work in the field. However, incumbents at this level may be assigned to perform the full scope of levee maintenance operations for a levee district of limited scope.

Coordinates, plans, and implements levee maintenance field operations.

Distributes work assignments to levee foremen for maintenance and repair of levees, drainage ditches and construction activities on or about levees such as bridges, locks, fences, etc.

Plans logistical support for levee maintenance projects.

Determines needs and recommends purchase of materials and equipment for levee maintenance and repair activities.

Performs inspection of levees to ensure proper upkeep and repairs, as well as to verify compliance with permit requirements by companies located along the levee system.

Reviews and submits detailed written work reports on the condition of levees and of maintenance and repair work activities.

Enforces safety policies and procedures set by the agency. Leads safety meetings for field crews to ensure compliance with established standards.

Provides input for the levee maintenance budget to support field maintenance needs.

Prepares various administrative and/or operational reports as applicable to the area assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years of experience as a mechanic, or in the alteration, construction, maintenance, or repair of bridges, buildings, drainage facilities, grounds, levees, roads, or wharfs.
