Represents, on a district basis, the Department of Transportation and Development Equipment Unit to render assistance to District Administrators, Parish Superintendents, Equipment and Auto Shop Supervisors in preventive maintenance, equipment inspection, and maintenance programs.
Conducts on-site preventive maintenance and safety inspections of light and heavy equipment, writes reports on equipment condition, and recommends corrective action.
Discusses the needs for various types of equipment with District Administrators, Equipment Supervisors and others; makes recommendations for specifications for purchase of equipment including revising and updating current specifications.
Maintains inventory on equipment showing location, physical history and current mechanical condition.
Evaluates products such as degreasers, greasers, graphites, sealing compounds, and solvents to recommend changes in purchasing specifications for products.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in the repair, inspection, or operation of mobile equipment or heavy mobile equipment; OR
Three years of experience in the inspection of automotive equipment.
