To assist an Occupational Therapist in the delivery of occupational therapy services.

General from an Occupational Therapist.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Occupational Therapy Aide by assisting in performing screening and testing and carrying out treatment independently.

Differs from the Occupational Therapist Assistant 2 by the absence of responsibility for performing the full range of technical program assignments as a trainee.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Assists licensed Occupational Therapists in evaluations, assessments, and developing treatment plans.

Conducts occupational therapy sessions with individual patients or groups of patients, instructing in activities leading to maximum rehabilitation potential.

Constructs adaptive equipment and orthotic devices required in carrying out treatment or rehabilitative care.

Gathers pertinent data concerning patients cases.

Documents patient status and progress in rehabilitation under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist.

Participates in the planning and the evaluation of treatment.

Observes and assesses clients' reactions to treatment.

Assists in maintaining department records, inventory, and supplies.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana Occupational Therapy Assistant temporary permit.
