FUNCTION OF WORK:To provide professional occupational therapy services.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Broad review from higher level Occupational Therapist or administrative official.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Direct line over subordinate staff and student interns.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Occupational Therapist 3 by the presence of direct supervision over 2 or more Occupational Therapists or other professionals. Differs from the Occupational Therapist Manager by the absence of responsibility for planning, organizing, and directing a large-size occupational therapy program.

Ensures that evaluation reports, progress notes, and discharge summaries are adequate.
Spot checks work in progress for safety, proper use of equipment, maintenance of work areas, etc.
Defines the objectives and priorities and shifts the therapists workload as required.
Assists with unusual situations which do not have clear precedents such as problems involving treatments in other disciplines that appear to conflict with occupational therapy objectives for the same individual.
Monitors therapists workload through periodic review. Work is reviewed in discussions at periodic meetings.
Is apprised of work performed through reports, activity schedules, and occasional discussion of the work with the therapist.
Serves as assistant to occupational therapy department head, in a large hospital or facility, collaborating in developing and planning of department goals, priorities, policies, procedures and quality assurance.
Develops and plans department goals, priorities, policies, and procedures in a small- to moderate-sized hospital or facility.
Assumes responsibilities of daily management of occupational therapy department during absence of section head.
Trains and supervises subordinate staff.
Coordinates student placement and acts as mediator in supervisory process.
Assists in staff development training programs and in-service curriculum.
Collaborates with Occupational Therapist Manager in management of supply levels and equipment.
Conducts special projects, research, or studies.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana Occupational Therapist license plus two years of experience as a licensed occupational therapist.
