Performs routine dental assisting duties under general supervision, as well as the following experienced-level duties:
Assists a licensed dentist in restorative treatments by removing cement from dental restorations and appliances with hand instruments.
Provides suctioning, instrument transfer, and isolation techniques during procedures.
Places or removes pre-formed crowns or bands for determining size.
Makes preliminary study model impressions and opposing model impressions.
Removes sutures, post-extraction dressings, and surgical ligature ties.
Assists in the supervision and training of dental students and dental assistants by demonstrating routine chair-side procedures.
Monitors sterilizers to verify that they are working properly; sets up instrument trays for surgery.
Labels radiographs and maintains a filing system.
Observes patients in the recovery area after surgery.
Maintains supply levels in operating rooms, recovery rooms, and dental laboratories.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience or training as a dental assistant or dental hygienist.
