FUNCTION OF WORK:To assist in the management of operations, maintenance, and law enforcement activities of all state parks.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Broad from Parks Administrator. Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Direct over Parks District Managers. May also supervise other parks personnel. Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Parks District Manager by the presence of responsibility for assisting in the statewide administration of parks operations.
Differs from Parks Administrator by the absence of full authority for all park operations and facilities statewide.

Serves as assistant to the Director of Operations and Facilities assuming administrative responsibility in the areas of operations, customer service, maintenance, property management, and equipment.
Serves as the agency property manager, responsible for all tangible non-consumable moveable property owned by the agency; maintains copies of all correspondence, transmittals, annual printouts, letters of certifications, property acquisitions, property transactions, etc.
Prepares specifications for major repair projects received from field operations; critiques requests for proper format, checks calculations, and reviews for adequate approval from appropriate regulatory agencies.
Serves as the Director of Operations and Facilities in his/her absence to handle correspondence, phone calls, and other day-to-day activities as assigned.
Investigates and recommends the implementation and revision of agency policies and procedures.
Coordinates work with various sections within the agency as well as with other agencies such as, but not limited to, Office of Risk Management, Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Natural Resources, Office of Risk Management, Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, etc.
Administers the LaCarte Program for the Office of State Parks to include reviewing requests for cards, supervising purchases, and implementing purchasing card procedures.
Plans, establishes, and maintains a preventative maintenance program for the physical plant of the Office of State Parks.
Serves as temporary or acting park manager at local or district levels on an emergency basis.
Maintains all records for operations in central office to include major repairs, law enforcement, and equipment.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been in the operation or administration of parks, outdoor recreation, or historic sites:
Five years of experience in the operation, administration, or maintenance of parks, outdoor recreation, or historic sites; or in parks or conservation work; OR
Five years of experience in law enforcement, interpretive services, mobile equipment operation, building construction or maintenance.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the general experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience.
