FUNCTION OF WORK:To assist the nursing/medical staff by providing skilled technical assistance during major/minor diagnostic and/or surgical procedures.

Maintains specialized supplies and equipment for major surgical specialties, such as; neurosurgery and orthopedics by setting up operating rooms, instruments, equipment, and preparing the patient.
May assist the circulator during major surgical procedures.
Assists in the orientation of new personnel as assigned to aseptic technique, proper operating room proceduresc and environmental maintenance.
Directs nursing assistants and custodians in the maintenance of a clean, safe, well stocked environment.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience as a surgical technician; OR
An associate's degree in surgical technology plus one year of experience as a surgical technician.
