FUNCTION OF WORK:
To assist in the handling of bulk cargo and to become familiar with the operation and maintenance of bulk terminal machinery and equipment.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct from Bulk Terminal Foreman.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Bulk Terminal Specialist 2 by the absence of sufficient knowledge and skill to operate equipment and machinery and independently perform bulk cargo handling tasks.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Becomes familiar with the operation of equipment used in maintenance operations.

Greases and oils rollers, bearings, shafts, and other equipment mechanisms.

Cleans machinery, equipment, including heavy mobile equipment, and working areas.

Cleans cargo spills.

Assists technicians, mechanics, and other skilled workers in bulk cargo handling and maintenance activities.

Becomes familiarized and obtains skill in the operation of machinery and equipment, including heavy mobile equipment, used at the facility.

Assists in tasks such as grass cutting, shoveling, minor carpentry, welding, or plumbing repairs and general upkeep of the grounds.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No experience or training is required.
