FUNCTION OF WORK:To supervise the storing, dispensing, and distribution of all patient care supplies and equipment.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:General from a Central Service Manager 1 or other administrative or supervisory personnel.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Direct line over subordinate employees.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Central Service Worker 2 by the presence of supervisory responsibilities.
Differs from Central Service Manager 1 by the absence of management responsibility over all shifts.

Assigns, supervises, and directs the work performed by lower level Central Service Workers by serving as shift supervisor.
Prepares schedules, reassigns personnel, and monitors attendance.
Evaluates subordinates performance.
Checks and assures that equipment remains in good working order.
Reports breakage, spoilage, and missing supplies and equipment to appropriate Central Medical Supply supervisor or other designated staff.
Supervises the distribution of supplies and equipment to all areas of the hospital.
Operates, cleans, and changes charts in the gas and steam autoclave.
Maintains records and logs (manual or computerized) of steam and gas autoclave sterilization batches.
Operates aerators for gas autoclaves.
Prepares records, personnel, and inventory papers for physical and adjustment inventories.
May perform duties of subordinate central service workers due to absences and/or shortage of staff.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in housekeeping in a healthcare setting or in the sterilizing, processing, assembling, or distributing of medical supplies.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the required experience.
