To supervise a staff of Compliance Inspectors and perform complex inspections/investigations on a wide range of alleged violations of Board/Agency policies, state and federal statutes, Civil Service rules, licensure, and ethics. LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direct from an Executive Director, Administrator or higher level police official. SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct over two or more Compliance Inspectors 1 and 2 or lower level staff. LOCATION OF WORK:
May be used by all state agencies with an Inspection Division. JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from law enforcement investigators by emphasis on administrative rather than criminal investigations.EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Inspect physical locations to determine adherence to rules and regulations.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Conduct investigations into failed inspections and alleged misconduct by agency employees or licensed members of applicable board.
Reviews and gathers evidence by taking oral, written, or tape-recorded statements from witnesses. May conduct surveillance.
Investigates reported violations of state and federal ethical and agency laws, rules, and policies.
Prepare detailed confidential reports and summaries of investigations. Maintain records of investigations and related data.
May give presentations and training on applicable laws and licensure regulations to the public.
May be responsible for governing and enforcing continuing education requirements of professional licenses for the Board/Agency.
May conduct background checks to determine suitability for employment or licensure.
May testify in Civil Service hearings, Ethics Commission hearings, board hearings, criminal and civil court concerning results of investigations.
Organizes, evaluates, trains, and approves the work activities of a staff of Compliance Inspectors.
For Weight Enforcement Duties, supervise staff engaged in:
Performing weight enforcement work to ensure compliance with state laws, rules and regulations.
Operate a stationary scale and check loads for compliance with weight and size regulations.
Record the number of trucks weighed per shift, noting time, location and weights of all overweight trucks and permit loads.
Four years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting; investigatory experience; inspection for compliance with laws, rules or regulations; law enforcement; legal research; or in which clerical work was a major duty.
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Commission of Higher Education; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
