Step-by-Step Hiring Resources:
ACCOUNTANT ADMINISTRATOR 2

Step 1: Choose your competencies

Start with the skills that matter most. Use the Louisiana Competency Model to identify the competencies that define success for the job.
  • For positions required to use the SCS Hiring Framework, select a minimum of three core competencies. You may choose up to 7 additional core/preferred competencies.
  • For positions not required to use the framework, you may select up to ten preferred competencies that best represent the desired skills for the position. Visit the Louisiana Competency Model page for statewide recommendations, including the competencies most often associated with leadership.
SCS recommends selecting ten competencies to help you get the most out of the framework from start to finish. Selecting the maximum number of competencies gives you more flexibility when building questions, activities, and evaluation tools.

Step 6: Decide. Make data-driven hiring decisions

You've built your interview tools. You’ve completed candidate interviews. Now it’s time to decide with confidence, no guesswork, just clear results you can trust.
  • The Summary tab in the Automated Structured Interview Tool (SIT) brings all panel scores together in one easy-to-read table, giving you a side-by-side view of how each candidate was rated by the interview panel.
  • Built-in color highlights automatically draw attention to qualified candidates, helping you spot top talent quickly without digging through individual score sheets.
  • Review the results as a panel to confirm your selections and ensure every decision is fair, consistent, and supported by real data.

With the Summary tab, you move from spreadsheets to insight. It turns interview results into a clear visual summary that helps you make confident, evidence-based hiring decisions.

Prefer paper? You can also use the Multi-Candidate Dashboard Guide in the paper version of the Structured Interview Tool to record panel scores and review results manually.
