FUNCTION OF WORK:To provide assistance, guidance, and limited support for an assigned group of Horticultural Attendants, Mobile Equipment Operators, Helpers, Laborers, etc. engaged in grounds and non-highway roads maintenance.
LEVEL OF WORK:SUPERVISION RECEIVED:General from Horticultural Attendant Foreman or other higher level supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Functional over Horticultural Attendants, Mobile Equipment Operators, Tree Specialist, Helpers, Laborers, etc. on a regularly assigned or recurring basis.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:Differs from Operators, Horticultural Attendants, and related jobs by the presence of regular leadworker responsibilities.
Differs from Horticultural Attendant Foreman by absence of first line supervisory responsibilities.

Performs a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of state facilities and grounds.
Prunes and removes trees ensuring safety and protection of people, landscaping, and facilities.
Monitors and assesses landscaping needs and reports to supervisor.
Provides guidance for subordinates as directed.
Surveys assigned jobs and insures that sufficient and proper material and tools are on hand to complete each day's work.
Directs the sequence of work and assigns tasks to subordinates.
Works with and sets the pace for assigned subordinates.
Keeps records as required by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience or training in farming, the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs, or groundskeeping; OR
Twelve semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.
