Conducts extensive criminal history and background checks on beer and/or liquor permit applicants. Based on findings, recommends issuance or denial of alcoholic beverage and tobacco permits.
Routinely performs physical inspections of applicant and/or already licensed alcoholic beverage and tobacco outlets in assigned area to ensure compliance with state and local laws.
Collects fees and penalties on new applications, permits, and delinquent renewals, and transmits to Alcohol Tobacco Control Office, Baton Rouge.
Issues administrative and criminal violation citations and makes arrest for violation of the Alcohol and Tobacco Control Law and Statutory Criminal Law.
Formulates generally supportable basic conclusions through simple analysis of information gathered. Submits reports to regional supervisor on all possible or probable violations in assigned area within established time frames. Proposes and coordinates additional investigative efforts.
Conducts underage compliance operations to determine frequency of sales of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors and monitors assigned areas for compliance rates.
Works with federal and other state agencies to assure alcoholic beverage and tobacco outlets comply with applicable statutes, including "Prevention of Youth Access to Tobacco Laws" and fire and health codes.
Assists Revenue collection personnel and local sales tax collection agencies in collecting state and local sales taxes. Issues administrative violation citations to alcoholic beverage and tobacco outlets for failure to pay sales taxes.
Coordinates with local, state, and federal law enforcement to plan and execute high-risk enforcement actions within assigned area.
Assists criminal and administrative prosecutors with case preparation, secures evidence for analysis and presentation at trial, and appears and testifies before Alcohol Tobacco Control hearings or in courts of law.
